Somebody writes:
| Quote: | | “I don’t get it. You seem to think that realization is as simple as taking hold of the idea that spirit is reality. After that we will all see the world of our minds as unreal or even a lie. Well it’s not that easy.” |
You are right. It’s not easy to see the obvious. But once you see it, you wonder why it took you so long. After all, the truth is always in plain sight, and only a blind man or befuddled doofus can’t see it!
In any case, none of the above is what my philosophy is all about. I.e., it’s not about “taking hold of an idea", and it is not even about “seeing the obvious.”
Rather, it is about giving in to God. It is about letting the Spirit take the initiative. It is about breathing in the great “I” that is all around you.
It is no accident that the ancient yogis spoke of “breath” and “spirit” as one phenomenon. For them it was literal truth that spirit and the air we breathe are one and the same. For us that is (mostly) a metaphor, but breathing is still a powerful way of practicing surrender to the Self that cannot be seen in a mirror.
You see, merging with God is as natural as breathing. It is even an automatic process, a force of nature, part of the human metabolism, a necessary fact of being alive. Without oxygen you will rapidly die. Without the in-breath of the Spirit, you will become a spirit-less corpse.
...Continuation in Notes and Comments.
